Want to become a therapy dog team?

Please note:

  • QCCAN is based in the Greater Quad Cities Area and this is where our training and the majority of our visits take place.

  • If you are interested in your dog becoming a facility dog (going to work with you), please receive employer approval first.

  • QCCAN does not train service dogs.

Benefits of being a QCCAN Member.

QCCAN offers a community of members to volunteer alongside at a variety of visits such as schools, libraries and nursing homes. It is a rewarding experience that enriches the lives of others as well as QCCAN members. 

 

Membership includes:

  • Advanced training classes five times each month with a focus on therapy dog work

  • Liability insurance while volunteering with QCCAN

  • AKC Canine Good Citizen preparation training and evaluation

  • Mentored guidance for those new to therapy dog training 

  • Additional training and guidance for those who wish to have a facility dog join them in their career field

  • Monthly social gatherings for members and their families 

  • A caring learning environment for handlers of all experience levels

  • Additional volunteer outlets to apply professional strengths while serving on one of our many committees
