Reading Education Alliance of Dogs

The mission of the QC CAN READ program is to improve the literacy skills of children through the assistance of registered therapy teams as literacy mentors.

What Is READ?

The Reading Education Alliance of Dogs (READ) are registered therapy dogs who volunteer with their handlers as a team going to local libraries and area schools around the Quad Cities and surrounding communities as reading companions for children.

How Does It Work?

QC CAN READ program improves children's reading and communication skills by employing a powerful method: reading to an animal. The teams help children improve their reading and communication skills while encouraging them to develop a lifelong love of reading.

READ Program Request

Teachers, principals, librarians, program coordinators and/or facilities are invited to contact us with specific requests for information about developing a QC CAN READ program or fill out the program request form here.
